Allianz Partners Named Official Travel Partner of 2024 Wheelchair Basketball National Championships

RICHMOND, VA – (Thursday, March 21, 2024) – Sportable, Central Virginia’s premier adaptive sports club, is proud to name Allianz Partners as the Official Travel Partner of the 2024 Wheelchair Basketball National Championships. The top 100 Adult and Junior Division wheelchair basketball teams from across the country will compete for national titles April 5-14, 2024 at the Henrico Sports and Events Center. Tickets are on sale now at Sportable.org/Nationals-Tickets.

“One of the biggest barriers athletes with disabilities face is the inaccessibility they often experience when traveling across the country,” commented Hunter Leemon, Sportable Chief Executive Officer. “With more than 1,000 athletes traveling into Richmond, we are incredibly grateful for the support of Allianz Partners for helping us proactively make these wheelchair basketball athletes’ travels as easy and accessible as possible. Allianz Partners is a global leader in travel and specialty insurance, and a leader in accessibility and inclusivity in our community.”

“Sportable is a remarkable organization that transforms lives by making sports accessible for athletes of all ages, backgrounds and abilities,” said Jeff Wright, CEO of Henrico-based Allianz Partners USA.  “We are proud to be named the Official Travel Partner of this year’s Wheelchair Basketball National Championships and look forward to welcoming the players and their families to Henrico.  Our associates will be out in force, helping to ensure that everyone has a safe trip and a great experience.”

As the Official Travel Partner, Henrico-based Allianz Partners is facilitating cross-country travel for more than 1,000 wheelchair basketball players attending the National Championship tournament. By providing travel tips for athletes with disabilities, sponsoring an in-depth travel webinar, staffing the official welcome center at Richmond International Airport, and assisting with equipment transportation, Allianz Partners is helping to deliver a first-class travel experience.

Taking place on eight courts over six days, games begin April 5-7 when 52 Varsity and Prep level youth teams compete at the state-of-the-art Henrico Sports and Events Center. The top 16 ranked wheelchair basketball teams for each Adult Division (I, II, III) will compete for national titles the following week, April 12-14, 2024.
