HSMAI to Honor Allianz Partners USA with a Bronze Adrian Award for Outstanding Travel Marketing

Award winners to be celebrated at in-person event in Los Angeles in February 2023

Richmond, Virginia, December 7, 2022 – Allianz Partners USA will be honored for travel marketing excellence by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International ( HSMAI) at the annual Adrian Awards Celebration at the JW Marriott LA Live on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

The Adrian Awards, now in its 66th year, are the largest and most prestigious competition in global travel marketing. For 2022, Adrian Awards are being presented in advertising, digital, PR/communications, and integrated campaign categories, as well as the following “focus categories”:

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Marketing (inclusive marketing that considers diversity in all forms);
  • Recruitment Marketing (tactics used to attract and retain employees); and
  •  Audience Marketing on New Platforms (marketing programs on new consumer or technology channels, including TikTok, gaming, and NFTs).

Allianz Partners USA will receive a Bronze Adrian Award for its winning entry in the Public Relations/Communications, Relaunch of an Existing Product category: “Allianz Partners’ Epidemic Coverage Endorsement Product Plays Important Role in the Return of Travel.”

Allianz Partners made accommodations to its products to provide coverage if its customers had to cancel or interrupt a trip if they, a close family member or traveling companion became ill with COVID-19, and to provide emergency medical benefits to travelers who became ill. Allianz also accommodated denied boarding due to suspected illness and mandatory personal quarantines.

“Travel insurance garnered tremendous media interest during the pandemic and we were glad we could help educate reporters about how our products met customer needs during this unprecedented event,” says Daniel Durazo, director of external communications for Allianz Partners USA. “It’s a tremendous honor to receive this award from HSMAI and we deeply appreciate the recognition.”

The 2022 Adrian Awards Competition adopted “The Next Great Chapter” as its theme to highlight the travel industry’s emergence from the COVID pandemic and encourage contestants to consider the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

“The travel industry is thriving once more and poised for new growth,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHBA, president and CEO of HSMAI. “The Adrian Awards celebrate the innovation and ingenuity that fuel our success and recognize the hospitality sales, marketing, and revenue optimization leaders whose extraordinary efforts literally ‘open the doors’ to exploration and excitement. They are writing the next great chapter of travel, and HSMAI is proud to honor them.”

The Adrian Awards Celebration is a must-attend industry event that annually attracts leading hospitality, travel, and tourism marketing executives and their agencies. Winning entries will be viewable in the winners’ gallery on the Adrian Awards website following the February 23 Celebration. Please see our Coverage Alert for information about other temporary accommodations that may be available. Benefits for quarantines only apply when an eligible traveler is specifically named and individually ordered to quarantine by order or official directive of a government, public regulatory authority, or the captain of a commercial vessel on which that eligible traveler is booked to travel during the covered trip, based on that eligible traveler’s exposure to COVID-19. The benefit does not cover travel restrictions (whether or not they are referred to as “quarantine”) that apply generally or broadly (a) to some segment or all of a population, geographical area, building, or vessel (including without limitation shelter-in-place, stay-at-home, safer-at-home, or other similar restriction), or (b) based on to, from, or through where the person is traveling. Coverage may not cover the full cost of your quarantine and is subject to applicable benefit limits. See your plan for details.
